Of course they are brothers - and how wonderful for the people of God to use this to demonstrate that all of us are God's children and thus are all related to one another.
And BTW, I tried to look for this church and found there are numerous Jonestown Church of God's around the country. Any hint as to City and State (so those who are not guilty might not suffer the same shame)?
